Loh Kean Yew was born in Malaysia on June 26, 1997. He moved to Singapore at the age of 13. Fond of sports, he started playing Badminton at a very tender age of four with his brothers. But as he was bullied, he left playing for a while, which affected his self-esteem. But his love for sports helped him gain back confidence and hold the rackets again at the age of nine. He joined a badminton academy in Singapore, which helped him further strengthen his talent. Practicing nine times a week, Loh was able to get a scholarship from Singapore Sports School.

Career and Achievements:

  • He started his professional badminton career in the year 2014. With the guidance of his Singapore badminton coach, he won the Singapore International Series Tournament. This was a big success in stepping into the Badminton world. 
  • The young Loh, at 17 years, represented Singapore at Southeast Asian Games 2015.
  • He has won five SEA game medals.
  • He trained for Singapore Armed Forces Sports Association during his national service in 2018.

At the age of 19, he joined Singapore Badminton Association. After that, he rapidly gained popularity in the sports world. 

Career and Achievements:

  • Ronald brought home a silver medal from the 2002 commonwealth games and clinched a bronze medal in 2003. 
  • He triumphed Singapore National Badminton Champion in the years 2004 and 2007.
  • Due to repeated injuries, he retired in 2010.
  • Even after his retirement, he participated and won Piolet Pen National Age Group Singles in 2014.
  • His passion for Badminton did not stop with his retirement. He opened a Badminton Academy in Singapore, providing the best coaching.
