Badminton At Jalan Besar Sport Centre: Courts And Access
Jalan Besar Sport Centre is a centrally located sport facility, and it is not where you book a badminton court. That distinction matters if you are planning a session in this part of town, because the two things are a few hundred metres apart and only one of them appears on the booking system.

According to ActiveSG’s own facility listing, Jalan Besar Sport Centre operates the Jalan Besar Swimming Complex, the Stadium, and the Farrer Park Tennis Centre and Field. It also jointly manages the Co-Curriculum Activities Branch, which includes a swimming complex, a sports hall, a hockey pitch and other outdoor facilities.
The centre has genuine sporting history behind it. It hosted events during the Asian Youth Games in 2009 and the Youth Olympic Games in 2010, and served as a home ground while the National Stadium was being rebuilt. Related facilities under the same management include the ActiveSG Gym, the Stadium, and ActiveSG Courts @ Farrer Park, which has eight sheltered courts.
Searching ActiveSG’s badminton facility list for Jalan Besar returns nothing. Searching for Bendemeer returns two halls, both managed from this same centre and both a short distance from it.
At 91 Bendemeer Road, Singapore 339948. Open Saturdays from 3pm to 9pm and Sundays from 9am to 9pm, and managed by Jalan Besar Sport Centre. The phone number listed is the same one as the centre’s.
At 1 Saint Wilfred Road, Singapore 327919, with the same weekend hours: Saturdays 3pm to 9pm, Sundays 9am to 9pm. ActiveSG records it as a school sports hall managed by Sport Singapore.
Both halls open at weekends only, which decides more about your schedule than anything else on this page. If you want weekday evening badminton in this area, you are looking at a private hall or a different part of the island, and it is better to know that before planning around it. The nearest MRT station to 100 Tyrwhitt Road is Lavender on the East West Line, within easy walking distance. Bendemeer on the Downtown Line is a little further, and Farrer Park on the North East Line is further again but still walkable for most people.
The two Bendemeer halls sit closer to Bendemeer MRT than to Lavender, so if you are heading to a court rather than the sport centre, the Downtown Line is usually the better approach. Buses run along Serangoon Road, Kallang Road and Bendemeer Road for anyone coming from the north or east.
Jalan Besar sits at a genuine crossing point. Three MRT lines are within walking distance of the centre, which makes it one of the easier places in Singapore for a group coming from different estates to meet without any of them travelling far.
That matters more for group and corporate bookings than for a single student, who will usually be better served by a hall closer to home. If you live in the area, the practical answer is usually a weekend slot at Bendemeer. For players who want conditioning alongside court work, the ActiveSG Gym at the centre and the Jalan Besar Swimming Complex are both on the same site and on the same daily 7am to 10pm hours as the centre.
That combination is genuinely useful if you are building a week around badminton rather than treating it as one session. It is also the reason some students prefer this area even when the court itself is a few hundred metres away at Bendemeer.
