Toa Payoh Sport Centre is closed for redevelopment until 2030, when a new Regional Sport Centre with badminton courts opens as part of the Toa Payoh Integrated Development. In the meantime, Toa Payoh players can book the four courts at First Toa Payoh Primary School Hall on weekends, or use Bishan and Jalan Besar Sport Centres, which Sport Singapore suggests during the closure.

What Is Happening At Toa Payoh Sport Centre

The sport centre closed to make way for a new Regional Sport Centre, part of the Toa Payoh Integrated Development, as announced by Sport Singapore in October 2023. The ActiveSG facility page marks it as a long-term closure, with its opening hours shown as closed for redevelopment.

For anyone who used to play badminton in the old hall, the practical change is simple: your weekly games and lessons move to another hall until the new centre opens.

What The New Toa Payoh Sport Centre Will Include

Sport Singapore’s plans for the Regional Sport Centre include badminton courts, indoor sport halls, an aquatic centre, sheltered tennis, futsal and netball courts, fitness studios, a gym and a football stadium. Completion is planned for 2030.

Once it opens, the new Toa Payoh Sport Centre brings badminton back to the heart of the town, alongside the other sports on the same site.

Toa Payoh Badminton Courts You Can Book Now

School halls like this one suit weekend players. For weekday sessions, the full-time sport halls in neighbouring towns give you more choice.

Bishan And Jalan Besar Sport Centres

Sport Singapore pointed Toa Payoh users to Bishan and Jalan Besar Sport Centres during the closure. Bishan Sport Centre is in neighbouring Bishan at 5 Bishan Street 14, and its Google Maps listing shows daily hours from 7am to 10pm.

Jalan Besar Sport Centre is the second option Sport Singapore named. Both are full-time ActiveSG halls, so you can book weekday and weekend slots through the same platform.
